UK Banks Still Denied Access to Mythos Amid US Political Delays
Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey has confirmed that UK financial institutions remain locked out of Anthropic's Mythos cybersecurity platform, citing unresolved political hurdles in the US. The delay persists six weeks after Anthropic's regional lead Pip White promised imminent access during a UK regulatory risk assessment.
Mythos, currently restricted to select US firms like Goldman Sachs through Project Glasswing, was flagged by Bailey in April as a top-tier cyber risk. The governor emphasized the need for cross-border coordination during remarks at Reykjavik's central banking conference, noting cyber threats now outpace other regulatory concerns in escalation speed.
The impasse leaves British banks and cryptocurrency firms excluded from the platform's first release cycle. Bailey's Financial Stability Board leadership underscores growing institutional anxiety about systemic vulnerabilities in an interconnected financial ecosystem.
